  • “The frightened individual seeks for somebody or something to tie his self to; he cannot bear to be his own individual self any longer, and he tries frantically to get rid of it and to feel security again by the elimination of this burden: the self.” ― Erich Fromm, Escape from Freedom

The Individual and freedom from fear.

It might seem that being self-reliant means being alone. That is not the case. Building ourselves with small changes. Surrounding ourselves with people who bring opportunities rather than a distraction from fear. That is a way. These people can help you, me, and us, become “fuller”, “complete”.

There is power and potential in the community.

  • “Art is the elimination of the unnecessary.” - Pablo Picasso

Necessity and time. The two qualifiers of how we can function. Simplicity in the right moment can unravel the path to take.

I might have many different things I own and do, but are all of them necessary?

  • “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” ― Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

    Internal and external breeds conflict.

That conflict is a chance to reach for responsibility. To become accountable for what is going on.

If the external is not our responsibility, then how we approach that, our chosen attitude is something that lies in the realm of our control.

I might hate what happened, but I choose my approach to it.
